At Softbnb, we are committed to fostering a secure and trustworthy environment for all users of our platform — both guests and hosts. As part of this commitment, we implement a mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process. This procedure ensures that all platform participants are accurately identified, and that Softbnb remains compliant with applicable legal and regulatory standards concerning identity verification, anti-fraud, and anti-money laundering (AML) practices.

By registering for an account and using Softbnb’s services, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding our KYC requirements:


1. Mandatory KYC for Access to Services

Users are required to complete and receive KYC approval before engaging in the following activities on Softbnb:

  • Booking any property or service
  • Listing a property for rent
  • Receiving or sending payments via Softbnb
  • Accessing host tools or guest booking features

Until KYC is successfully completed and approved by our compliance team, your account will remain restricted and you will not be able to perform the above actions.


2. KYC Submission Requirements

As part of the verification process, you will be required to submit the following documentation and information:

a. Government-Issued Identification

You must provide a clear, legible copy of a valid government-issued photo ID, such as:

  • National Identity Card
  • Passport
  • Driver’s License
  • Residence Permit (if applicable)

The document must be current, not expired, and must clearly show your:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Photograph
  • Document Number
  • Date of Issue and Expiry
  • Issuing Authority
  • Residential Address (if available on the document)

b. Live Photo (Selfie)

You must upload a real-time photograph of yourself (selfie) to verify that the submitted ID belongs to you. This image must be:

  • Clear and taken in good lighting
  • Free from filters or alterations
  • Recent (taken within the last 24 hours)


3. Review and Approval Process

All submitted documents and information are reviewed by Softbnb’s internal verification team or authorized third-party identity verification partners. KYC approval typically takes 24 to 48 hours.

You will receive a notification via email or your Softbnb dashboard once your KYC has been approved or rejected. In the event of a rejection, you will be informed of the reason and may be asked to resubmit correct or additional documents.


4. Data Collection, Use & Retention

Softbnb takes data privacy and protection seriously. All KYC data collected is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws including, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant legislation.

We collect, store, and use your KYC information solely for the purposes of:

  • Verifying your identity
  • Preventing fraud and identity theft
  • Ensuring compliance with legal obligations
  • Enhancing platform safety and accountability

Your data is securely stored and will not be shared or sold to third parties, except as required by law or for verification purposes through secure, contracted partners.


5. Refusal, Revocation, and Misuse

Softbnb reserves the right to:

  • Refuse KYC approval for any user providing false, expired, forged, or incomplete documents
  • Suspend or permanently disable accounts that attempt to circumvent the verification process
  • Revoke KYC status if a previously approved document is later found to be invalid or fraudulent

Any attempt to manipulate, bypass, or abuse the KYC process will be treated as a serious violation of our terms of service and may lead to account suspension, cancellation of bookings, and legal action.


6. User Responsibilities and Agreement

By using the Softbnb platform, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information during KYC submission
  • Keep your information up to date if your ID expires or your details change
  • Re-verify your identity upon request if Softbnb deems it necessary due to suspicious activity, changes to law, or internal audits

You acknowledge that failure to comply with the above may result in limited platform functionality, denied access, or termination of your account.
